No-Limit Texas Hold'em is the most widely played poker variant in the world and the default game for the World Poker Tour live circuit. Hold'em on WPT Global runs across two currency rails — USD and CNY. How to Play
Each player is dealt two private hole cards. Five community cards are dealt face-up to form the board. All players use their hole cards combined with the shared community cards to make the best five-card poker hand.

NLH is a positional, range-vs-range game — winning over the long run means consistently making +EV decisions at every street rather than chasing big bluffs. These six fundamentals apply to every WPT Global stake from micros to mid-stakes.
Play in position
Position is the single highest-leverage edge in NLH. Tighten your opening range from UTG and the blinds — these positions force you to act first post-flop, which costs you information and equity. Widen the range from the button and cutoff. Treat hands like K-Tos and 8-9s as marginal calls early and clear opens late.
Tighten your starting hand range
Recreational players bleed money by playing too many hands pre-flop. On the 8-max tables stick to the top 18-22% of hands from middle position; loosen only on the button. Pocket pairs, suited connectors and suited aces are 90% of profitable hands at low stakes — premium broadway hands take care of themselves.
Pay attention to bet sizing
Standard pre-flop opens are 2.5–3 BB on the WPTG client; 4-bet ranges shrink to a tighter polar range (premium value + bluffs). Post-flop, a 1/3-pot c-bet works on dry boards while 2/3-pot to pot-sized bets work on wet boards. Reading bet sizing tells you almost everything about opponent confidence.
Master pot odds and equity
Before calling any bet, compute the price: $X to win $Y means you need X/(X+Y) equity to break even. On a flush draw with one card to come you're ~19% to hit; on an open-ended straight draw with one card to come, ~17%. Decisions on the river are pure pot-odds math against the value/bluff ratio of your opponent's range.
Table-select aggressively
WPTG's lobby shows table averages — average pot, players per flop, hands per hour. Look for high players-per-flop percentages (40%+ means recreational players are calling too much) and avoid tables stacked with low-VPIP regs. Three minutes of table selection saves you weeks of grind to make the same money.
Manage your bankroll
Cash games require 25-40 buy-ins minimum for the stake you're playing — meaning $250-$400 to play NL10 sustainably, $500-$1,000 for NL25, and so on. Move down a stake immediately when your roll dips below the minimum threshold. Variance at NLH is real — even good players can have 6-figure-hand losing stretches.
